“What are we going to do?”

Kane looked at everyone. “We’ll have to go to another safe house. We’ll wait a few days before leaving. This place is fantastic. I mean, you have your own water drums. You have solar electricity. So it’s not completely off the grid. Do you come here often?”

Missy was happy to be in her own clothes. She always kept her closets in her homes full of clothes. She even had something for Julia to wear. She folded Luke’s shirt and put it in her drawer. She planned on sleeping in it tonight. “A few times a year. Taylor and I come here. He loves to fish. I have lots of fishing poles if you want to fish.”

“I wouldn’t mind having fish for dinner,” Luke said, “would you like to go fishing with me?”

“I would love to go fishing with you,” Missy said.

She walked outside to the shed, where she kept all the fishing equipment. “Taylor brought his truck up here full of fishing equipment. So we have a lot to choose from.”

“I’ll go with you,” Hunter said, following them out of the house. Luke growled, and Missy chuckled.

“Missy, Zane will be here in an hour to pick you up.”

Missy looked at Luke and shrugged her shoulders.

She was the first to catch a fish. They had caught ten fish before heading back to the cabin. Zane was standing outside talking to Kane while Julia sat on the lounge chair, with her leg elevated to take some of the pressure off her body.

“There she is,” Zane said. “Someone is going to have fish for dinner. I brought out a bunch of food. I have to get you back to Polly. She went by the safe house and saw all the bullet holes.”

“Let me wash my hands and grab a few things, and I’ll be ready.” Why is everyone acting like I’m a child? I’ve gone all over the world on my own since I turned eighteen. Now all of a sudden, Zane shows up to take me home. I would put my foot down, but I don’t want to embarrass anyone. “Goodbye Julia, you take care of yourself. Please feel free to stay here as long as you wish. Oh yeah, I would rather have my kind of action and adventure.”

“Thank you for everything Missy, I couldn’t have had a better best friend. I’ll see you when all of this is over.”

“Yes, I’ll see you then,” she replied. Missy looked at Luke. “Thanks for the ride on your bike. Maybe we’ll do it again one day.”

“We will do it again one day. You can count on it.”
